This is an essay-form assignment where the AP psychology students are given 4-5 case study questions to answer in details. It is extremely important that students take their time to research, read the book, and study for the most effective answer that can give the reader the most obvious evidence and answers. On Chapter 10, we focused on thinking and language, such as how we think, the cues for humans to think naturally, and the effects of nature and nurture on our language. Since the case questions are no longer existent in my AP Psychology portfolio, I'll give you a general idea of the first question. How do availability heuristics and representative heuristics affect an individual's studying habit and what contributions will these heuristics have on his/her decision making? In order to give a clear explanation of what these heuristics were and what contributions they put into the individual's studying habit, I first defined the words, then gave examples of the worst and the best case scenarios.
Going through thorough examinations of these case study questions reveal the way I think and how I should manage it to give the fullest effect in my way of thinking. The importance of this assignment was a better understanding of human mind and exploring other countries' language differentiation. This assignment gave me the meaning to my life by helping me discover myself more observantly.
One of the most interesting facts from this chapter was that there is a language spoken by Hopi people called Hopi in the northeastern Arizona, USA. It consists of no past tense whatsoever. It is extremely important to any individual that we have past tense to explain our previous experiences, testimonies, and to create histories. However, the Hopi language develops different ways of thinking for the Hopi people because they lack past tense. It's surprising to me that although past tense is very usual and normal to everyone, it can create a whole new way of thinking and how it can create lack of imaginations.

Before entering into the whole testing world, the AP psychology teacher hands each student a packet to solve as a practice test. We are assigned to precisely answer every single one to gain as many points as possible (they count against our grade). A day before taking the test, we turn this in for the teacher to randomly pass it back to students to correct for a grade.
The realization of the importance of this assignment came to me when I obtained a satisfying grade such as either a high B or an A on the test. I realized the enormous help that this assignment has given me to obtain such grades, because I'm not a stellar student that can excel greatly in AP classes. However, these practice tests became meaningful to me when my grades gradually increased as I focused more on these packets. (Thank you Mr. Luong!)
The greatest thing about practice multiple choice tests is that since answers are already given, it is not a huge problem to find the answer BECAUSE THE ANSWERS ARE GIVEN ALREADY! How great is that? We just need to focus and think hard to eliminate all the possible wrong answers to cut down to the best answer possible. Even if we get a question wrong, I don't get disappointed. Instead, I become more knowledgeable of my mistake and gain new information. I take advantage of this packet because it teaches me the eliminate wrong answers, cut down to the best, and learn from the mistake. Before completing this assignment, I was not as well prepared for the test as I would've after completing. Thus, I figured these chapter packets have been great sourcse of help for me to obtain excelling grades.
